Heidi Risto – Jouluksi kotiin – Home for Christmas29.4. 2006 - 28.5. 2006 Jouluksi kotiin on Heidi Riston opinnäytetyö Svenska Yrkeshögskolaniin. Teos on luonteeltaan matkadokumentti. Ristoa kiinnostaa kuvajournalismi ja matkustaminen ja tässä Kummigalleriassa esillä olevassa sarjassa Heidi Risto yhdistää nämä molemmat elementit. ‘Jouluksi kotiin’ is Heidi Risto’ final work of art for Sveska Yrkehögskolan. The piece is a series of photographs and texts in a form of a travel document. It combines elements of her interest in photojournalism and travelling. ‘Jouluksi kotiin’ is based on feelings of homesickness Risto experienced while working away in Germany during autumn 2004. While in Germany she came up with an idea of documenting her journey home. For five weeks she travelled alone through foreign, somewhat frightening places. During November-December 2004 she travelled through Eastern Europe on her way ‘Home for Christmas’. Places she travelled through were chosen based on their unfamiliarity to her. Risto aimed to visit places that would have little, possibly nothing, familiar and safe for her to lean on. Her intention was to place herself into a situation where she would have to survive unaccompanied and rely only on herself. ‘Jouluksi Kotiin’ is a dual travel document; written and photographed, of the places, people and events Risto came across during her journey home for Christmas. With ‘Jouluksi Kotiin’ Risto was one of the nine finalists in ‘Vuoden nuori valokuvaaja 2005′ (Young Photographer 2005) competition in Finland. |
